Faramir is Boromir's younger brother. His father Denethor favored his oldest son, but while Boromir succumbed to the temptation of the One Ring and would have hindered the Ring-bearer, Faramir had the strength of character to utterly reject the Ring and to speed Frodo on his quest. He married Eowyn, the niece of King Theoden.

Eowyn, niece of King Theoden and sister of Eomer. She was a shieldmaiden, known for her great courage and her kind heart. She took care of her uncle while he was under the influence of the traitor Grima Wormtongue. In battle, she killed the Witch-king of Angmar.
